Wayne, originally from Zimbabwe, launched the inov-8 brand in 2003 from his base in Wolsingham and now employs a talented team which is growing very fast.

Through constant product innovation and a total commitment to designing and producing the best performing products on the market, inov-8 has become the fastest growing off-road running brand in the UK, picking up numerous awards on the way. 

Based on its European success, the company expanded into the United States in 2004 and continues to grow its European business so that inov-8 shoes are now worn by world mountain running champions throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the USA.

Weardale

As ‘England’s last wilderness’, the North Pennines is the perfect location for
inov-8.  This picturesque location gives understanding of what elite mountain and fell runners, trail and adventure racers demand of their shoes. The stunning open space and dramatic terrain that Weardale provides is an inspiration and ideal testing ground in one.

A superb backdrop for any itinerary, the history and heritage of Weardale has been shaped not only by nature but also by the hand of man. The area was once at the centre of the world’s lead mining industry and prior to that was the hunting ground of the all-powerful Prince Bishops of Durham.

The revolution of the gigantic wheel at Killhope Lead mining centre is a fitting tribute to mining boom years of the 19th century. As well as viewing the wheel, you can don hard hats and walk Park Level Mine – the most extensive mine in North East England.

The upland scenery, rising to over 2,000 feet, is breathtaking and leads into attractive stone-built hamlets and market towns.
